We've launched “Fit 4 Algebra,” a free online tool to help parents assess whether their child is on track for the critical “gateway” subject.
It consists of a 21-question algebra readiness check-up, which tests the key skills identified by the National Mathematics Advisory Panel as providing the basic foundation for algebra.
After their child completes the screener, parents will receive diagnostic results that highlight both strengths and problem areas.
Additionally, parents will have immediate access to valuable free resources aligned to the skill areas where students need additional improvement.

Ohio Achievement Assessment
Last week was another monumental step that your child took in his or hers educational career. Grades third through eighth participated in the Spring Ohio Achievement Assessment last week. This is a week long test in math and reading (usually there is a social studies and writing, but these were suspended for 2010 and 2011). As parents the results that come back from this test may be confusing and probably do not make sense. The Ohio Department of Education can help your read through these results and understand your child's assessment.
This site takes you step-by-step through the results for your child's specific grade level, subject and semester. These results should not be compared to other students the test is not made for that. Nor does the Ohio Achievement Assessment test intelligence either, instead it is created to help give, the state of Ohio, educational standards for these specific grades.
If you feel that your child may be falling behind in a specific subject or section of a subject from the Ohio Achievement Assessment results, you can contact Sylvan Learning Center. We would be happy to help assess your child and advise them in any subject they need. Our experienced teachers and proven programs can help build a learning style around your child's needs. We are a proven learning center that ensures your child will retain what he or she learns through games, different study habits and many other activities.
